The new flood mitigation pipeline is connected into the southern end of the current pipeline, increasing flow capacity, and re-connecting near the exit at Kohimarama beach.

Work involved sheet-piling and dewatering, deep excavation up to six metres deep with ground water from 1.7 metres below surface level, connecting into and diverting existing sewer and storm water services, working around and diverting gas main and high voltage services.
